OUR ADOPTION PROCESS

5. Meet Your Dog

We don’t have a physical shelter—our dogs are cared for in loving foster homes. Since our fosters have their own busy lives, an approved application is required before scheduling a meet-and-greet.

After the home check has been approved, we’ll schedule a meet-and-greet with the dog at our rescue or in a foster home. This is your chance to spend time together and make sure it’s the perfect match. Bring your family members and any current pets to help ensure compatibility.

1. Find Your Match

Start by exploring our Available Dogs page. Each dog has a detailed profile with photos, a personality description, and information about their medical history, age, and any special needs. Take your time browsing to find the one who captures your heart.

2. Submit an Application

Once you’ve found a potential match, fill out our Adoption Application. This allows us to learn more about you, your household, and your lifestyle to determine if you’re the right fit for the dog.

3. Application Review

Our adoption team carefully reviews each application. We aim to respond within 3–5 business days. If additional details are needed, we may contact you for more information or clarification.

4. Home Visit & Interview

Once your application is approved, we’ll arrange a home visit. This step helps us ensure your environment is safe, welcoming, and suitable for your future furry friend. It’s also a chance to answer any questions you may have about the transition..

6. Adoption Finalization

If the meet-and-greet goes well, we’ll finalize the adoption. You’ll sign an adoption agreement, pay the adoption fee, and receive your dog’s medical records.

7. Welcome Home!

Congratulations! Your new companion is ready to begin their next chapter with you. Our team is always available to provide guidance and support as you and your dog adjust to life together.

Adoption Fees & Requirements

To adopt from Love’s Legacy Rescue, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Provide proof of identification and residency.
- Have landlord approval if renting.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide a safe, loving, and stable environment.
Our team works hard to match every dog with a home where they will thrive. While some dogs adapt easily, others may need patience and training as they settle into their new life.
Adoption fees vary based on the dog’s age, medical needs, and other factors. These fees help cover the cost of:
- Spaying/neutering
- Vaccinations (including rabies and distemper/parvo)
- Microchipping
- Preventative treatments (flea, tick, and heartworm)
- Any medical care received while in our rescue
- Out of state Adoptions must pay for relocating, starting at $500 depending on location
Your adoption fee supports our ongoing efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need.
